Chalkis nästa - Next stop Chalkis

Morgonunderhållningen i Nea Stira blev fiskebåtens ankomst. Denna händelse förklarade också varför 7-8 män i mogen ålder en god stund vankat omkring i morgonsolen på kajen vid vår båt.

The arrival of the fishingboat turned out to be the head attraction this morning i Nea Stira. This also explained to us way 7-8 adult men had been lingering around our boat in the morning sun.

Den hår(d)nackade besättningen fortsatte idag mot Chalkis. Staden som ligger där sundet mellan Evia och fastlandet är som smalast. En broöppning krävs och den var idag annonserad till kl. 23.30. Allt fungerade enligt tidtabellen och vi kunde lägga till vid kajen norr om bron. Vi tog en nattpromenad och kunde konstatera att pulsen på barerna och krogarna och klubbarna längs "the waterfront" var hög. Uppladdning inför helgens val, kanske. Eller bara en vanlig fredagskväll i Chalkis? (J)
The crew, with their neck to, continued on to Chalkis. That´s the town where the sound between Evvia and the mainland is just a small passage of 30 somewhat meters.. There is a bridge, that needs to be opened. Today the opening was announced to be at 2330. Everything went smothely according to the time table and we could moor on the quay north of the bridge. We went for an evening stroll and could note that the puls was high and the heat was on in the pubs, bars and clubs along the waterfront.We argued if this was in preparing for tomorrows elcetion or just another friday night in Chalkis?
