Sailboat from the South get out of the way!

Ikväll passerade vi bron i Khalkis. Sundet mellan fastlandet och ön Evvia är bara ca 30 m. Det finns en gammal bro som öppnas en gång per dygn. På sen kväll/ förnatt.  Strömförhållandena är extrema. Det finns tidvatten som växlar på 6 timmars basis och lufttrycket påverkar också rejält. Verkar vara ett lotteri och in i det sista är det oklart vilket håll det kommer strömma från, hur dags broöppningen är och vem som ska gå först, nord eller sydgående båtar. En fransk båt, coming from the South,  var iaf på helt fel ställe och blev anropad ett otal gånger om att flytta sig. Vi kom igenom utan att bli utskällda och ligger nu för ankar söder om. /L
This evening we passed the bridge in Khalkis.  The sound between the mainland and Evvia is only approx 30 m. There is an old bridge and it opens once every late evening. The currents are very strong and shift in a seemingly haphazardly manor. Not until the last minute is it clear what direction the current will go, what time the bridge opens and who passes the bridge first,  north or southbound vessels. A French boat,  coming from the South was in the totally wrong place. The Port Authority called them on the radio inumerous times and told them to get out of the way. We got through without anybody yelling at us.  Now we are safely anchored south of the bridge. Over.
